30 Point Artwork Check

At Newstyle Print, we ensure that your print job is as flawless as possible. This dedication to perfection is why we offer our comprehensive 30-step artwork check before your artwork goes into the printing process.

Here’s a glimpse into what our review involves:

  1. Assessing File Type: We typically work with PDF or JPEG files but also accommodate TIFF, AI (Adobe Illustrator), and PSD (Photoshop) files. Regrettably, we cannot process PNG, Pages (mac), Publisher, SVG, WEB, .HTML, or GIF files.
  2. Evaluating File Size: The file size must not exceed 200mb.
  3. Checking Page Count: Our team ensures that the uploaded number of pages aligns with the job’s specifications.
  4. Verifying the Number of Printed Sides: We ensure that the number of uploaded sides matches the project requirements.
  5. Confirming Orientation: Our Studio Team checks if the file orientation (landscape or portrait) is set correctly according to the job specifics.
  6. Inspecting for Spot UV: If Spot UV is required, we ensure one combined PDF, comprising both your general artwork and Spot UV elements, is uploaded.
  7. Checking for the Correct Fold: Our Studio Team reviews your artwork to ensure correct and even folding lines, so nothing seems out of place.
  8. Looking for Additional Finishing Needs: We ensure that your artwork is ready for any finishing touches, such as foiling, eyeleting, perforation, etc.
  9. Ensuring All Relevant Information is Provided: We verify that you’ve included your order number and specific file setup requirements.
  10. Determining Proofing Method: Certain products like perfect bound booklets, presentation folders, and PVC banners require a manual proof. In these cases, the artwork must be emailed directly to our studio team.
  11. Matching the File with Order Details: For manual proofs, we verify that the order details are included in the email with the artwork.
  12. Ensuring Appropriate Content: We uphold strict content standards as outlined in our Terms & Conditions.
  13. Confirming Correct File Size: Our team verifies that the file’s dimensions match the chosen finished size.
  14. Checking for Legible Text: We ensure that your text is large enough to read clearly once printed, with a minimum font size of 8pt.
  15. Determining Suitable Resolution: We advise a resolution of 300dpi for small format jobs like flyers and business cards, and a minimum of 150dpi for large format jobs such as posters and roller banners. PVC banners should be between 75 – 150dpi.
  16. Checking the Safe Zone: Our team checks for a clear 3mm border around your artwork to prevent any key elements from being obscured during the printing and trimming process.
  17. Checking for Sufficient Bleed: We recommend a 3mm bleed. If your artwork lacks this, we can add a white border.
  18. Ensuring Correct Colour Profile: All artwork must be in CMYK format. We’ll convert any different formats, such as RGB, during the proofing stage.
  19. Inspecting for Transparency Issues: We examine the file for any transparency issues that could cause colour changes or missing elements.
  20. Checking for Layout Consistencies: We make sure your artwork aligns with the chosen product.

Post-approval, we conduct a final prepress check:

  1. Confirming Orientation: We ensure your artwork orientation matches your order.
  2. Confirming File Size: We verify your artwork’s size aligns with your order.
  3. Confirming Number of Printed Sides: We validate the number of printed sides matches your order.
  4. Preflight Test: We conduct a thorough check on colours, size, resolution, fonts, pages and setup.
  5. Removing Cutter Guidelines: If used, we make sure your cutter guidelines won’t appear in the final print.
  6. Checking Spot UV Layer (if applicable): We proof your Spot UV layer to ensure accurate alignment.
  7. Checking Font Embedding: We recommend embedding any non-standard fonts in your file to prevent design alterations.
  8. Checking for Transparency: If transparency is detected, we flatten the artwork.
  9. Ensuring PDF/X-1a:2001 Compliance: We use PDF/X for graphics exchange, requiring all fonts to be embedded and all images to be CMYK or spot colours.
  10. Confirming File Size: The file size must not exceed 200mb. For larger files, we recommend using WeTransfer.

Voila! Our detailed 30-step artwork check is complete. We’re always here to support you, ensuring your artwork is print-perfect every time.
